Paragraphs
1 Creating a format
The dialog box must be opened.
1.1 Opening the dialog box
Choice 1 : Modifying a part of a paragraph
• Select a part of a paragraph.
• Press CTRL+D.
or
• Select a part of a paragraph.
• Click Format > Characters > Designer...
The Character Designer dialog box is opened.

Choice 2 : Modifying a whole paragraph format
• Click on the paragraph you want to modify.
• Press CTRL+M.
or
• Click on the paragraph you want to modify.
• Click Format > Paragraphs > Designer...
The Paragraph Designer dialog box is opened.

1.2 Creating a new tag
• Click the Commands down-arrow at the lower left to display
the Commands pop-up menu.
• Click New Format.
• Enter a name in the Tag text box.
• Click the button Create.
The new tag is added to the Paragraph catalog.

1.3 Renaming a tag
• Click on the Paragraph Tag combo box.
• Rename the tag.
• Click Update All.
The previous tag is deleted. The new tag is added to the Paragraph catalog.

The dialog box must be opened.
Attention
To apply modifications in your document, you must validate
them. One parameter at least must be modified to validate.
Choice 1 : Modifying the formatote
To validate the modifications for a whole paragraph :
• Click the button Update All.
Choice 2 : Modifying the selectione
To validate the modifications only for the selection :
• Click the button Apply.

The Advanced tab must be selected.

Select the tabulation building block.
Click on Update all.
Click on the Basic tab.
Double click on New tab or click on the button Edit.
Enter the number of centimetres in the New Position field in the
dialog box.
• Edit Tab Stop.
• Click on the button Continue.

Select the tab stop you want to modify in the Tab Stop field.
Click on the button Edit.
Enter the number of centimetres in the New Position field.
Click on the button Continue.

Modifying the alignment of the tab stop
• Select the tab stop you want to modify in the field Tab Stops.
• Click on the button Edit.
• Click on the desired radio button in the Alignment field.
Modifying the leader between the tab stops and the
text
• Select the tab stop you want to modify in the Tab Stop fields.
• Click on the button Edit.
• Click on the desired radio button in the Leader field or enter the
leader in the Custom field.
• Click on the button Continue.
Repeating a tab stop in a regular interval
• Select the tab stop you want to modify in the Tab Stops field.
• Click on the button Edit.
• Enter the number of centimetres you desire in the Repeat Every
field.
• Click on the Repeat Every checkbox.
Deleting a tab stop
• Select the tab stop you want to delete in the Tab Stops field.
• Click on the button Edit.
• Click on the button Delete.

The Pagination tab must be selected.
• Click on the desired radio button in the Format field.

4.1 Opening the dialog box
• Press CTRL+M.

4.2 Creating a numbering
The Numbering Tab must be displayed.
Note
Numbering in Framemaker is very powerful. Framemaker
provides building blocks for creating as many levels of numbering as you would like.
Choosing the writing of the numbering
• Click <n> in the Building blocks field for a numbering with
Arabic numbers.
• Click <a> or <A> for a numbering with latin alphabet.
• Click <r> or <R> for a numering with roman numbers.
Adding a following numbering
• Click <n> in the Building blocks field for a numbering with
Arabic numbers.
• Click <a> or <A> for a numbering with latin alphabet.
• Click <r> or <R> for a numering with roman numbers.
• Click <n+> to increment the numbering by one.
If the building block includes an equal sign and a number, the
numbering display of that paragraph will equal that value.
Adding a cascading numbering
• Click <n> in the Building blocks field for a numbering with
Arabic numbers.
• Click <a> or <A> for a numbering with latin alphabet.
• Cick <r> or <R> for a numering with roman numbers.
• Click whatever letter you want followed by colon ":" before the
numbering.
• Add <n+> to increment the numbering by one.

Modifying a text zone

Master Page
When working in a FrameMaker document, you normally
work on the body pages. This is where the majority of the
document content exists: the text, graphics, tables, and other
items that make up the entire document flow. Behind these, in
every FrameMaker file, is a set of master pages. The master
pages hold the layout, including background items like headers and footers.
You can use master pages to design custom page layouts for
different elements within your document, such as title pages,
indexes, and tables of contents.

5 Modifying a text zone
5.1 Displaying the master page mode
• Click View > Master Pages

• Click Format > Customize Layout > Customize Text Frame...
• Enter the desired value in the Width field.
• Enter the desired value in the Height field.
