Materials Needed
All Sacks… small piece of plastic (I used a heavy weight page protector, purchased at Staples, see photo
below), hot glue gun
Garden Sack… “Red Heart” super saver yarn in cream, medium weight green variegated yarn, scraps of
yarn for flower, small buttons or beads for flower centers, small ladybug (from the Dollar Store)
Fall Sack…tan yarn, orange yarn, variegated yarn in harvest colours, green & tweed yarn scraps for acorns
Snowflake Sack…blue and white yarn, snowflake appliqués (dollar store)
Candy Cane Sack… “Red Heart” super saver yarn in white “Bernat Shimmer” in red, white baby weight
yarn, pipe cleaner, medium weight green yarn
Santa Sack… “Red Heart” soft touch red, black and white, gold buckle (Dollar Store, scrapbooking stuff)
Size 3mm & 4 mm crochet hook
Stitch marker I use a scrap of contrasting yarn
Yarn needle (large eyed)
Notes
Finished bags measure 5” x 5”. The size of the bag will depend on the thickness of the yarn you use. Use
the 4mm hook unless stated differently. A portion of this pattern is crochet in continuous spirals where the
rounds are not joined. It will be stated if rounds are to be joined. When working in continuous rounds,
place stitch marker at the beginning of each round.

Crochet Terms and Abbreviations
Chain…ch
Fpdc…front post double crochet
Single crochet…. sc
Bpdc…back post double crochet
Double crochet….dc
Fpsc…front post single crochet
Slip stitch….ss
Bpsc…back post single crochet
To crochet 2 stitches together….pick up the front loops only of the next 2 stitches, pull loop of yarn
through both stitches together and proceed with stitch as usual.
Garden Sack cream yarn, piece of plastic, hot glue gun
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work 2sc in each stitch =12sc.
3. Work (1sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =18sc.
4. Work (2sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =24sc.
5. Work (3sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =30sc
6. Work (4sc, 2sc in next stitch) x6 =36sc.
7. Work 36sc in back loops.
8 & 9. Work 36sc around.
10 - 15. Ch 1, turn, 30sc. See photo, right.
16. Ch 6, sc in first stitch of the row 15, see photo below,
sc around in remaining stitches.

17. Work sc in each of the 6 chains, sc around in
remaining stitches.
18 – 21. Work sc around.
22. Work (4sc, sc next 2 together) x 6 =30sc.
23. Work 4sc, ch 2, skip next stitch, 15sc, ch 20 (makes a
loop), 10sc. See photo, below.
24. Work this round in front loops, 4sc, 3sc into ch2 space
made in previous round, 15sc, pull loop made
in previous round to the back of your piece, see photo
below, work 10sc. Bind off.

For the petal edge
green variegated yarn
1. Attach yarn to any remaining loop on round 7, *(sc,
hdc) in next stitch, (dc, tc, dc) in next stitch, (hdc, sc)
in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * around. Ss to join
and bind off.

For the flower stem green variegated yarn
1. Use a piece of yarn on a needle to stitch a flower stem onto bag.
Leaf for Flower green variegated yarn
1. Ch 5, starting in second ch from hook, ss, sc, hdc, 5dc in last ch.
Working down opposite side of ch, hdc, sc, ss. Bind off. Sew to
stem on front of bag. See photo for placement.
Flower your choice of yarn scraps, buttons or beads
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Change to different colour… ch2, dc in next stitch, ch 2, ss in same
stitch, (ss in next stitch, ch2, dc in same stitch, ch 2, ss in same stitch)
x 5. Bind off. Sew or hot glue buttons or beads to the center.
Assembly
1. Cut a piece of plastic approx. 3” x 3”. Turn finished bag
inside out. Run a line of hot glue around the edge of the
opening. Press plastic piece to the opening. Trim plastic.
2. Hot glue flower to top of the stem. Hot glue ladybug to the
edge. See photo, next page.

Fall Sack tan yarn
Follow instruction given for garden sack.
Assemble as for garden sack.
Edging for Fall Sack
1. Attach yarn to any remaining loop on round 7, *(sc,
hdc) in next stitch, (dc,ch 1 tc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch,
(hdc, sc) in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * around.
Ss to join and bind off.
Leaf orange yarn
1. Ch 9, starting in second ch from hook, 7sc, 4sc in last
ch, working down opposite side of ch, 7sc.
2. Ch 1, turn, (ss, ch 1, 2dc in next stitch, ch 1, ss) x3, ch
3, ss in same stitch, (ss, ch 1, 2dc in next stitch, ch 1,
ss) x3, ss, ch 3. Bind off. Sew to front of sack.

Acorn green and tweed yarn make 2
1. With green… Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch
from hook.
2. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =9sc.
3 & 4. Work 9sc around. Bind off on last rouud.
5. With tweed yarn… Ch 2, work 6sc in second
ch from hook.
6. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =9sc.
7. Work 9sc around. Bind off, leaving a 6” tail
of yarn. Place the green piece inside of the
tweed piece and use needle on tail of yarn to
sew the two pieces together.
9. With tweed yarn chain 15. Bind off. Sew each end of chain to the top of the acorns. Sew the chain to
the front of the sack.

Snowflake Sack blue yarn
Follow instruction given for garden sack.
Assemble as for garden sack.
Edging for Snowflake Sack white yarn
1. Attach yarn to any remaining loop from round 7, (ch 4, ss in
next stitch, ch 10, ss in same stitch, ss in
next stitch, ch 4, ss in next stitch) repeat around. Bind off.
Snowflake white yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc into second ch from hook.
2. Work (ss in next stitch, ch 10, ss in same stitch, ch 5, ss in same
stitch) x6. Bind off. Sew to sack.
3. Hot glue or sew on snowflake appliqués.

Candy Cane Sack white yarn
Follow instruction given for garden sack.
Assemble as for garden sack.
Edging for Candy Cane Sack sparkly red yarn
1. Attach yarn to any remaining loop on round 7, *(sc,hdc) in next stitch, (dc, tc, dc) in next stitch, (hdc,
sc) in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * around. Ss to join and bind off.
Candy Canes baby weight white yarn and sparkly red yarn, pipe cleaners 3mm hook
1. With red yarn...Ch 21, change to white yarn and starting in the second ch from hook, sc 20.
2. Chang back to red yarn...ch1, turn, 20sc.
3. Change back to white yarn...ch 1, turn, 20sc. Bind off leaving a 5” tail of yarn.
4. Use needle on tail of yarn to sew the long edges together, encasing a length of pipe cleaner inside. Bend
on end into the end of the candy cane.
Ribbon sparkly red yarn 3mm hook
1. Ch 75. Bind off. Thread ribbon through a loop on the front of
the bag and tie candy cane to bag with ribbon. You might
want to add a few stitches or hot glue to secure the candy
cane in place.
Holly Leaf green yarn
1. (Ch 4, ss in second ch from hook, dc in next stitch) x 2, ch 3,
ss in third ch from hook, (ch 4, ss in second ch from hook, dc
in next stitch) x 2. Bind off leaving a 4” tail of yarn. Fold in
half and use needle on tail of yarn to sew piece together. See
photos.
Holly Berries sparkly red yarn
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook. Bind off leaving a 6”
tail of yarn. Use needle on tail of yarn to gather stitches
closed. Sew or hot glue berries and leaf to front of sack.

Santa Sack red yarn
Follow steps 1 – 23 given for garden sack.
24. Change to white yarn, work this round in front loops, 4sc,
3sc into ch2 space made in previous round, 15sc, pull loop
made in previous round to the back of your piece, 10sc.
Bind off.
25. Assemble as for garden sack.
Edging for Santa Sack white yarn
1. Attach yarn to any remaining loop on round 7, sc in each
loop around. Ss to join and bind off.
Belt Loop black yarn buckle
1. Make a chain long enough to go around your bag, above the
window, overlapping by about 1”. (My chain is 55 long).
See photo. Starting in second ch from hook, work 54sc. Bind
off.
2. Slide buckle onto belt. Wrap belt around sack
and sew or hot glue in place.
