Nose & Face orange yarn, glue, googlie eyes, blush, black paint
1. Ch 3, starting in second ch from hook, work sc, hdc. Bind off leaving a 6” tail of yarn. Use needle on
tail of yarn to sew the nose to the center of the face.
2. Glue on googlie eyes. Add blush to cheeks. Paint on mouth with black paint. Add a couple of „coal‟

Scarf variegated yarn, thin wire
1. Ch 60, starting in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Bind off.
2. Thread wire on needle and weave through stitches down middle of scarf. Tie around neck and bend into
shape.

Sled (Bottom) tan yarn, pipe cleaners make 5
1. Ch 50, starting in second ch from hook, work 49sc across.
2. Ch 1, turn, work 49sc across in back loops. Bind off, leaving an 18” tail of yarn. Fold piece in half
lengthwise with a pipe cleaner in between. Use needle on tail of yarn to sew the edges together.
Note: Bend over ¼” to ½” on both ends of the pipe cleaners, so the sharp wires don‟t poke through.
3. Turn up one end to make a curl, on two of the pieces. Bend two pieces into an “S” shape. Bend two into
a right angle with one side about 4”. Bend the final piece into a “W” shape. See photo.

4. Now to assemble. I used a hot glue gun, it seemed to be the easiest. Lay the 2 runners out (the pieces
with the hooks on the ends). Hot glue the “S” shaped pieces to them where they touch. See photo.

5. Hot glue the 2 right angle pieces together to make a rectangle. Hot glue the “W” piece into the center.
See photo.

6. Now put these 2 pieces together. I feel a little bit like an engineer, not a crafter right now. I put the
rectangle piece down first, upside down. Then positioned the runner pieces on top and glued where the
“S” pieces touched.

Slats for the Sled red yarn cardboard make 4
1. Ch 2, work 6sc in second ch from hook.
2. Work (sc, 2sc in next stitch) x 3 =9sc.
3. Work 9sc around. Work in continuous rounds on these 9 stitches until piece measures 11”. Bind off
leaving a 4” tail of yarn.
4. Cut cardboard piece 11” x ¾”. Trim as needed. Slide cardboard inside. Use needle on tail of yarn to
sew across end.
5. Place the slats even spaced
across the sled and hot glue in
place. Use lots of hot glue…to
secure everything.
6. Add a length of yarn to the sled
for a handle. See photo.
Note: I left my sled as it is now,
realizing that it is still a little wobbly,
but the snowman seems to stay very
nicely perched on the sled. If you
would like your sled to be a little more
firm, or if it will be touched often, I
would suggest reinforcing the
underside of the sled with some more
cardboard pieces, hot glued to the
bottom of the crochet slats.

Place your snowman onto the sled. Hot glue
in place if desired. I add some white glue,
then sprinkled white glitter on, so it looks like
the sled runners are snow covered.
