Aperçu du document

Dear SIT Morocco Students Alumni from 1992 to 2012
Subject: Celebration of Abdelhay’s 20th anniversary with SIT
In recognition of his valuable contribution as an Academic Director and member of the SIT
teaching staff abroad, the Center for Cross-Cultural Learning, SIT Morocco hosting
institution, has decided to celebrate 20 years of Abdelhay Moudden with SIT Study Abroad.
In fact, Abdelhay, a University Professor in the Political Sciences and International Relations
department at Mohamed Vth University in Rabat, has joined SIT as an AD since 1992.
Abdelhay has contributed to building bridges between cultures and enhancing a better
understanding between people through cross-cultural exchange programs; he believes
strongly in the necessity to developing SIT study abroad program and others through the
CCCL, which he co-founded in 1995.
We receive every now and then emails and letters, from former students who express to us
how their Morocco experience had changed their lives and describe the impact the SIT
program has had on them. For Abdelhay, all these recognitions and testimonials mean so
much and reiterate for him the importance of education, study abroad, exchange programs,
and encounters between people of different faiths, backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities…
As we are all looking back to the 20 years of great work with its ups and downs, we want to
recognize Abdelhay with you and through you. As SIT Morocco Alumni we would like to
invite you to be part of the process. We are working on collecting testimonials from alumni
and have thus launched a Facebook page “20 years” http://www.facebook.com/pages/20Years/315637221826511 in his honor. We are preparing a day at CCCL to honor him this
coming May 2nd, and a Round Table conference in the fall 2012 with the presence of World
Learning President (SIT), Adam Weinberg and several other guests who have known
Abdelhay through this position, Deans of Area Studies (or Regional Directors), Academic
Directors, Speakers or Advisors, participants to CCCL programs and friends, as well as
present and former CCCL staff and alumni. Of course, we would be very happy to have some
of you join us in Morocco!
We can however ask you to contribute by sending us your testimonials or any photos or
videos or anecdotes you want to share about Abdelhay or your time in Morocco through SIT.
We are also planning to organize live conversations with former students (you) on the date of
celebration through Skype, and we would like you to tell us if you would be interested in
being part of these conversations; it will help to know if you want to do it this Spring (2nd of
May) or next fall when the World Learning (SIT) President Adam Weinberg is attending.
We, of course, will appreciate any contribution from your part in audio or video format,
scanned photos, scanned pieces of your work journal during the program, any information
about you and what you have become will definitely mean to Abdelhay so much and will be
very appreciated. If you do not want to join the Facebook page, can you kindly send to the
cccl@cccl.ma any contribution you might want to share?

Everyone here at CCCL is excited to hear from you and expects your response prior to April
10th, 2012 to the latest. We thank you all for having been part of this experience and hope
you can all be part of bringing back memorable moments to Abdelhay!
Do not forget to spread the word around you to whoever you think would like to be part of
this process!
We will keep you informed of the details of both events in mid April.
Best Regards,
Nawal Chaib
