Definition
A World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game (“WoW TCG”) Realm Championship Weekend is a
multiday event that hosts an invite-‐only tournament held once a year. Players qualify for the

will also schedule a Sealed Pack Format Tournament on Saturday and a Core Constructed
Format Tournament on Sunday for players who are not participating in the Championship event.
1.3.

Championship Tournament Format
3.1.
Number of Rounds
WoW TCG Realm Championships are Swiss-‐format events. TOs shall not deviate from this policy
without permission from a CZE Representative.
•
•
If 94 or fewer players are in attendance, there should be 6 rounds of Core Constructed
before the 3 rounds of Draft.
If 95 or more players are in attendance, there should be 7 rounds of Core Constructed
before the 3 rounds of Draft.
After the Swiss Rounds, Realm Championships must cut to the Top 16 for a single-‐elimination
playoff, and all playoff rounds must be completed.
3.2.
Time Limits
WoW TCG Realm Championships must use 30-‐minute rounds for the Core Constructed matches
as described in the CZE Tournament Policy document. Draft rounds are 60-‐minute rounds.
3.3.
Format
WoW TCG Realm Championships use Core Constructed Format rules for the Core Constructed
Swiss rounds, and these rounds will be played as best-‐of-‐one matches. For the three rounds of
Booster Draft, the format will be with 1 pack of Crown of the Heavens and 2 packs of Throne of
the Tides, and these rounds will be best two-‐of-‐three matches.
For this event players will draft in the following order and configuration:
Pack 1: Crown of the Heavens – Pack 2: Throne of the Tides – Pack 3: Throne of the Tides
The Top 16 will be played as single elimination Core Constructed Format using the same deck
each player used in the Core Constructed rounds. These rounds will be best two-‐of-‐three
matches, played with the following time limits:
Top 16: 60 minutes
Top 8: 60 minutes
Top 4: 90 minutes
Finals: 120 minutes
3.4.

4.1.
Public Events
TOs must offer tournaments in addition to the Realm Championship for players that are
not qualified for the main event.
4.2.
Last Chance Qualifier -‐ Friday
TOs must schedule a single Last Chance Qualifier on Friday. This event may be held at a location
different from the host of the Realm Championships. If it is, the location must be in the
proximity of Realm Championship. This event will follow the same format as Sealed Pack
Format Season 7 Realm Qualifier events. Prizes and Realm Points are listed in the Realm
Qualifiers Operations Document. The tournament organizer is responsible for manually
adjusting point totals for players that participate in the Last Chance Qualifier to determine if the
Last Chance Qualifier provided them with enough points to attend the Realm Championship.
Players earn additional points towards qualification for a Realm Championship invite based on
their standings in this Last Chance Qualifier.
* 1st: 10 points

5.
Running and Reporting the Tournament
5.1.
TO Dashboard
All tournaments, with the exception of any additional side events you have planned, should be
presanctioned for you in the TO Dashboard (www.wowtcg.com/TO). You will need to get the
proper Sanctioning ID for each event prior to completing the event upload from the Cryptozoic
Tournament Tracker. For additional assistance with sanctioning or uploading events, please see
the link here: www.wowtcg.com/sanctioning-‐and-‐uploading-‐instructions.
5.2.
Using Tracker
Both the TO and the Scorekeeper for each Realm Championship should be comfortable using
both the Cryptozoic Tournament Tracker, and be familiar with the proper tournament uploading
process prior to the start of the Realm Championship weekend. Please contact us at
hobby@cryptozoic.com prior to this weekend if you need additional assistance or training with
this tool.
5.3.
Match Slips
The use of Match Slips is required for the Realm Championship tournament. These must be
returned to Cryptozoic Entertainment along with the rest of the required paperwork. If you
require assistance with how to use these, please contact Matthias Nagy
(matthias.nagy@cryptozoic.com).
5.4.
Reporting the Tournament and Winners
TOs must correctly upload their WoW Realm Championships information, including Top 16
single-‐elimination playoffs results and any side events, before Tuesday, May 1st, 2012. They
should do this via the TO Dashboard located at www.wowtcg.com/TO.
TOs must fill out and email the WoW Realm Championships Reporting Form included in this
Operational document. Please send it to Matthias Nagy (matthias.nagy@cryptozoic.com) no
later than the Tuesday following the event.
**Included with this should be the marketing event brief, images from the event, match slips,
prize reporting information, and most importantly the W-‐9/W-‐8BEN forms for the Top 16
players from your Championship event.**
6.

3.23.2011 Cryptozoic Entertainment 6
World of Warcraft Trading Card Game: Realm Championships 2012 Season Operations Document
Due to the fact than many Championship locations will have more than 60 players, please allow
players to preregister for this event. You can use these participation items as an incentive to
have players register early with your location. Preregistering players will give you attendance
information that will help you better prepare for this Championship event.

6.4.
Prize Splitting
Prize splitting is allowed as described in the CZE Tournament Policy document. It is highly
recommended that the head judge be present during any prize-‐split negotiations to ensure
compliance with CZE Tournament Policy.
Prizes awarded at Realm Championships become the sole responsibility of the player, including
redemption of prizes through third parties, transportation, and administrative costs associated
with the prize. Cryptozoic Entertainment will award prizes based on tournament standings and
will not adjust prize payouts based on negotiated prize splits.
The Realm Championship VIP Card will be issued to the player that is reported as the first place
winner of the Realm Championship tournament. This prize is non-‐transferable.
7.

7. 1.
Base Support
CZE will provide approximately 360 booster packs of Crown of the Heavens and 144 booster
packs of Throne of the Tides for the Realm TCG Championship Weekend.
If a TO runs out of base support provided by CZE, he or she must provide the support on his or
her own.
7.2.
Judge Support
At least 144 Crown of the Heavens packs should be used for judge support, divided among thex
volunteer judges from this weekend in a way of the TOs choosing. CZE recommends that an
experienced judge who volunteers for the entire event receive a minimum of 36 packs of the
latest booster release. In addition, extra Ysera the Dreamer Alternate Extended Art Promo
cards, and Wake of Destruction Foil Promo Cards are included to supplement support for judges.
All judges, excluding the scorekeeper, must have passed the WoW Rules Knowledge Level 1
exam (available online). The TO must make sure that the head judge, floor judge, and
scorekeeper are entered into Tracker as judges for the event.
CZE regularly sponsors judges so they can attend large events, such as World of Warcraft TCG
Continental and World Championships. If you have an excellent candidate, please pass that
