Honoré Balzac est né à Tour le 20 mai 1799 d’un père secrétaire au Conseil du Roi nommé
Benard François Balssa et d’une mère venant d’une famille de petits industriels nommée
Anne-Charlotte-Laure-Sallambier. Ses extractions bourgeoises ont déterminées son éducation,
il a tout d’abord été élevé par une nourrice puis placé en pension dès 1804, n’entretenant que
peu de relation avec ses parents ce qui provoquera chez le jeune garçon un manque affectif
profond.
Après l’installation de ses parents à Paris en 1814 il débute des études de droit et commence
à suivre des cours à la Sorbonne dès 1816 qu’il terminera trois ans plus tard. Il refusera tout
de même d’être notaire après avoir été reçu bachelier en droit.
Affirmant une vocation littéraire Balzac débute l’écriture d’une tragédie en prose dont le titre
est Cromwell. Il s’avèrera que cette première œuvre n’a pas eu le succès escompté

Herbert George Wells, (best known as H.G) was born in the 21 september 1866 and he was
the last child of his sibling in a poor family of the lower middle class. He is famous for his
writing about politic, history, social commentary, and particularly for his contribution in the
science fiction genre. With Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback he is considered as “The Father
of Science Fiction”.
He made a lot of jobs before being one of the greatest Science fiction author of the 19th, he
began his studies in the Thomas Morley’s Commercial Academy, where he learnt to write
properly until 1880.
When his parents couldn’t provide their financial security he had to be apprentice and learnt
various jobs who inspired him for his future writing (As “The Wheels of Chance”). After that
poor part of his life, Wells began to study at the Midhurst Grammar School and won a
scolarship to the Normal School of Science thanks to his interest for science. That price
permit him to study biology. Then he had been influenced by darwinian and social idea,
themes which we find in his novels. He finished his life as writer and teacher in various
schools of London and died the 13 august 1946 at London.
