Aperçu du document
Matt Perrine's master class
For the last two decades, I have immersed myself in New
Orleans music and culture, playing and recording with
everyone from Dr. John, Kermit Ruffins, John Boutte, Paul
Sanchez, Pete Fountain and Bonerama to national icons like
Maryanne Faithful, Ani DiFranco, John Scofield and Eric
Clapton. I have made it my business to combine the time
honored traditions of New Orleans jazz with progressive
music and audio technology.
If you are looking for a clinician to teach students the skills
and strategies they need to land an orchestral gig, I am not
your guy. However I can teach extensively on the following
-Playing the tuba in early jazz and ragtime applications, with
a slant toward the bands from New Orleans.
-Playing all eras and styles of New Orleans based brass band
- Comprehensive study of New Orleans music, it's roots and
it's musicians' methods.
-"Being the bass player on the tuba" in swing and modern jazz
applications, as well as all progressive styles of music
including rock, funk, reggae, ska, and various Brazilian,
Cuban, Caribbean and African sub-genres.
-Miking and using a bass amplifier and / or pedals in congress
with tuba as well as playing techniques and settings to make
specific sounds, tones and effects.
