This tape is designed to provide clean removal during masking operations
involving high temperatures .




Masking edges of overlap seams in bonding process where excess adhesives
(“flash”) flows onto tape. Clean-up is complete upon tape removal.

GUARNIFLON FEP 2000 FILM
FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) film provides the chemical and thermal resistance to withstand aggressive
environments, making it an excellent candidate for diaphragms, gaskets, protective linings, sample bags, and containers.
FEP film is a clear or pigmented film designed for release applications. The non-stick surface, chemical resistance, and
205°C (400°F) usage temperature make Guarniflon FEP an ideal release film for composite molding over a wide range of
resin systems. High elongation and a smooth film surface allow Guarniflon FEP to conform to complex mold contours and
produce a smooth part finish. Pigmented films increase visibility to speed removal from parts and mold.

FEP is available as follow

CALFILM GF – HIGH TEMPERATURE PRESSURE SENSITIVE TAPE

FEP film is a high temperature and high elongation release film which will conform easily to the most complex curvatures.
The film is capable of temperatures up to 205 °C. This film will release from most resin systems and will provide a glossy
finish when removed from the laminate.

There are always more components for different applications (Aerospace, Automotive, etc.) being made from composite
bonded lay-ups.
Calfilm GF is used as masking film in manufacturing of aircraft as protection film during bonding metal or composite parts:
the tape is applied to define the areas in which the adhesive must not rest .

Main Advantages :
• Most conformable film for complex contours at elevated temperatures due to:

• Higher elongation

• Conforms better under stress
• Successfully used up to 205°C (400°F)
• Chemically inert to all resin systems

The adhesive components used often generate an exothermic reaction and produce a T° increase during polymerization.
The advantage of CALFILM GF is that the material has a great resistance to high Temperatures
(exothermic reaction) and that during the tape releasing (after polymerization) it leaves no adhesive residues.
Calfilm is available as follow in transparent/brown color and also in blue and orange color.

FEP application in Advanced Composite Material
Guarniflon FEP film is used in Vacuum Bagging/Autoclave moulding for the manufacturing of Advanced Composite parts
(E.g. Carbon Fibre parts), in particular in Aircraft/Aerospace industry and Automotive industry .

Guarniflon FEP film is used (see Figure 1 ) as RELEASE FILM : a ply could be placed against the tool to act as a cushion
between tool and the part and ensure easy release of the laminate, another ply could be placed over the laminate and the
most important ply must be placed over the bleeder to prevent migration of excess resin.
