OUTLINE OF THE SYSTEM

ST-71 Series is a high performance POS terminal which has been developed from the Industrial standard PC
architecture. This terminal provides all register functions required for a specialty store and enables the user
oriented system configuration.

1.1

Features of the POS Terminal

(1) The ST-71 Series POS terminal has been designed as a successor of the ST-60 series.
Two types of models are prepared according to the front display size, such as 12-inch TFT model and 15inch TFT model.
(2) The Intel® Celeron® 2.0GHz CPU is adopted.
The clock speed is 3 to 3.5 times of tht of the current model such as Celeron 566MHz (ST-60 series) and
ULV Celeron 650 MHz (ST-70 series).
(3) The 256 MB memory (non ECC type) is installed as standard. Up to 2 GB memory can be installed.
(4) Powered USB is adopted in addition to the USB, PCMCIA, and CF Interface which have been adopted for
the current models.
(5) A maximum of the two option HDDs (2.5-inch type) can be installed.
(6) Compact design body is adopted in common with the currently released ST-60 series.
(7) Windows® XP, Windows® 2000 and Linux are supported, however, neither Windows® 95/98/Me nor
Windows® is supported.

printer is connected.

Printer, etc. having a Centronics interface or equivalent are connectable.
Used for connecting an external speaker via the stereo mini jack terminal
TYPE II compact flash card conforming to CFA (Compact Flash Association)
standard can be used.
This complies with PC Card Standard Release 8.0.
32-bit Card Bus card and 16-bit PC card are supported. One slot is provided and
accepts up to TYPE II card.

The 852GME internal controller enables dual display
between the on-board RGB and the expandable LCD
interface (piggy board) under the OS such as
Windows®2000 and XP. Details conform to the device

2) Expansion LCD interface: expandable with the piggyback board
This interface is installed on the ENGINE PC board with the piggyback board, and it
converts the LCD interface signal sent from the ENGINE PC board to the LVDS
signal.

exceed the power supply capacity (250W). As the CPU (Celeron 2.0GHz)
consumes a maximum of 72W, the power consumption of the option devices
should be within 178W in total.
