As always this pattern is © by me (Jennie Bagrowski) and is for your personal use only, you MAY share it by linking to this
blog, you may NOT sell it. If you sell things made from this pattern I’d appreciate credit for the pattern design.
I assume you have basic sewing knowledge and the explanation should suffice, but if you need help please email me!
It’s called a smocked dress because originally I was going to smock the skirt but it didn’t show up very well on the dark
cotton print I was using, so I ended up using a regular gathered skirt. If you are a smocker, you can probably guess that
you will need to widen the skirt pieces or just use a rectangle of fabric about 3 times the width of the bodice bottom.
1. Cut all pieces as indicated and cut a bodice
lining from bodice pieces
2. Decorate bodice front as desired
3. Shoulder seams of main and lining
4. Line bodice (sew around neck and back)
5. Finish sleeve bottoms (hem and elastic or cuff)
Gather and attach sleeves
Sew side seams
Gather (or smock) skirt
Hem bottom of skirt
Attach to bodice
Attach back fasteners
