Aperçu du document
The first KidsFest Sofia took place at NuBoyana Film Studios, on SUNDAY 28 June with nearly 1000 visitors
enjoying an extraordinary moment.
The Studios gave us the perfect setting to let children dream, have fun, try new things, mingle, play &
learn. Creativity, curiosity, imagination with ever-‐present underlying social and intercultural purposes.
KidsFest Sofia invited many groups, orphans, SOS villages, Roma children, refugees, small groups of
autistic and otherwise handicapped children, Bulgarian kids with their families, foreigners… a happy mixed
crowd. The children became multi-‐cultural time-‐travellers and got lots of inspiration to create a world of
their own -‐ KidsFest’s global message came true: Children build the world’s patrimony today, the cultural
heritage of tomorrow. As the NuBoyana Studio publishes: “the beauty of movie magic and all children’s &
parents’ fantasies combined!“. Many months of preparation, an army of volunteers, countless partners,
sponsors, in-‐kind contributors, artists performing pro-‐bono joined forces to make this day an
unforgettable moment in each visitors’ life. The NuBoyana team from bottom to top worked many extra-‐
hours, the costume department, props, technicians, electricians, interns, all were there with a big smile,
dedicated to this one aim: The children must feel like movie-‐stars.
KidsFest Sofia is supported by the Mayor of Sofia Ms. Jordanka
Fandakova and the Mayor’s deputy Todor Chobanov opened the
festival with a speech dedicated to the children and declared the
municipality’s intention to make this pilot project a new
tradition in Bulgaria’s capital, right in the center of the city.
KidsFest Sofia was fun for all, children and adult visitors, parents
and chaperons were as fascinated as the kids themselves to
discover real movie sets, the London street with a dream-‐car
exhibition, “New York”, props all around the park like a treasure
island of dreams and imagination… All workshops were
functioning in parallel, those who left the Kids-‐Stage with the
BonBon Singers & the Bulgarian Cosmic Voices amongst many
others, enjoyed crafts, arts, yoga, sports, science, fun maths,
Picasso-‐workshop, medal-‐making, water games with the fire-‐
brigade’s animation, chess, doll-‐making, architecture, origami,
face painting, fitness, hip-‐hop, games, kermes, apple computers,
“selfies” with movie characters, fantasy characters of the
Costume society, or the calm oasis of the flying books corner.
The Epicenter of the KidsFest was the KidsStage -‐ an open
platform for all talents -‐ children and performers, champions,
new-‐comers, amateurs and professionals. The Magic of the
KidsStage was brought to life by the fabulous animator Stefan of
the Duo Platschkov -‐ Splash Circus. Performances by The
BonBon singers, Poli genova, Splash Circus, the famous Levski-‐
Iliana Gymnasts, Yoga Style and the Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria, with many delightful and original children's
performances in between. Sweet pleasures provided by Haribo, Nesquick and Florina. Plamen Tzanev and
the Pulsio printers provided all the printed work, Sofiyask Voda supplied waterfountains, fairy-‐tale books
and the well-‐known Drop & Droplet characters, Raiffeisen bank offered hundreds of T-‐shirts for all
visitors, Mr. Bricolage, Novotel and Sofia Accueil the necessary workshop materials. Besides the Picasso
workshop, the Spanish Embassy took care of culinary culture and gave a rich Spanish buffet to the
hardworking team. Numerous contributions, generosity and many hands behind the scenes brought this
project to life.
KidsFest Sofia’s carries a message of inclusion and gives
children an opportunity to experience responsibility in some
issues that affect sustainable development. The effervescent
positive energy this event creates combines in sustainable
synergy for future generations. KidsFest is a platform for young people to express their visions: one good
example is voluntarism. The best representatives of an active socially engaged modern Bulgarian
generation were our fantastic volunteer groups of the Red Cross and the Bulgarian scouts (bravo!).
The highlight at the end of the day was the Grand Finale offered by
