The Brand

CONCEPT

Founded in 1987, Misaki specialises in luxury jewellery,
showcasing the enigmatic pearl as their signature material:
cultured pearls and hand-made glass bead pearls.
Located in the Principality of Monaco, Misaki has successfully
combined the beauty and perfection symbolised by the
pearl with original and contemporary design.
The brand offers modern and creative interpretations of
the pearl, juxtaposing pure lines and a variety of high end
materials.

The Brand

HISTORY

The child of a love story born in Japan, the
Misaki brand has its origins in a meeting
between a globe-trotting photographer
and an illustrator in love with Paris.

Since they divide most of their time
between France and Japan, they naturally
choose to retail the brand’s jewellery in
airports and on airlines.

Completely enchanted by the charm of
the woman who would later become
his wife, he leaves France and moves to
Japan, where he discovers a culture and
a way of life he feels both close to and
inspired by.

As the years go by, the Misaki brand
extends to the Travel Retail market, before
entering the home market in 2003, where
it blossoms with increasing success.

As a first present, he gives his muse and
“beautiful flower” (“Misaki” in Japanese) a
necklace of Akoya cultured pearls.
Especially charmed by the beauty and
purity of these pearls cultivated along the
coasts of Japan, his discovery then gives
him the idea of launching a brand of pearl
jewellery .
The idea matures over time; in 1987, they
create Misaki together.

To make the most of this success the
company moves to the Principality of
Monaco, an international showcase and
symbol of luxury.
Now part of a Monaco group ready to
help it flourish anew, Misaki benefits from
a boldly modernised image and offers
contemporary collections that make the
pearl, icon of the brand, into something
truly sublime.

ACTIVITY

To begin with, the brand made its collections available
exclusively via airline in-flight sales.
Over the years, Misaki expanded to Travel Retail and further
continued its development with its entry to the Domestic
Market in 2003.
Sold in 2014, Misaki now features as part of the brand
portfolio held by the Alteal group, led by its founder,
Stéphane Alech.
Misaki is now in more than 80 countries and over 100 shops;
part of a group that recorded a turnover of 50 million euros
in 2014.

THE MISAKI
PRODUCT OFFERING

The take-over of the company paved the way for a new
positioning of the brand and a more structured product
offering.
The brand’s signature cultured pearls now feature in a
special Jewellery collection that also showcases rhodium
silver, and other precious components (precious and semiprecious stones, fur, etc.).
The “X-Treme Lustre” hand-made glass bead pearls feature
in a luxury costume jewellery collection. This collection is
inspired by a tasteful mix of elements: silver or gold-tone
metal enhanced by original combinations of glass bead
pearls and other materials such as shagreen, leather, resin,
wood and ceramic.

new artistic director, Cheek to Cheek is a collection of

Characteristic of the brand’s new product positioning, “Cheek to
