st(s) - stitch(es)
Rnd(s) - round(s)
lp(s) - loop(s)

Stitches and crochet techniques used
Slip stitch (sl st)
Insert hook in next st, yo and draw through all loops.
Single crochet (sc)
Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop (2 loops on hook), yo,
draw through both loops on hook.
Sc2tog (Invisible decrease)
Insert the hook in front loop of first st and in the front loop of
the second stitch (3 loops on hook). Yo and draw up a
loop through the first two front loops on hook, yo again and draw
through remaining 2 loops on hook.
Magic ring
Make a loop with your yarn leaving 3” (7 cm) long tail. Insert
hook in center of loop made, yo and draw up loop. Yo, pull
through to make your first chain. (Do not count this as your first
sc.) Continue to crochet over the loop and the yarn tail until you
have the required number of scs for your first round.
For example, if the pattern calls for 5 scs, sc 5 times into the ring
(insert hook into the center of the ring and draw up loop, yo and draw
through both loops). When you’re finished, pull the tail to close the ring.

Invisible finish off

Invisible finish off
To make nice, invisible finish - thread tail onto tapestry needle.
Insert needle under both loops of second st of the round. Insert
needle between back and front loop of the last st of the last round
and pull the yarn to secure.

Assembling and finishing
You may want to pin all parts to see how they fit together.
(Image 15)

Image 15

Attach eyes

(if using sew-on eyes)
Attach eyes 12 sts apart, between Rnds 18 and 19 of the head.
Sew them using a long needle and white yarn. Insert the needle
through the bottom of the head (leaving tail for securing),
coming out on the spot where the first eye should be, through the
eye, back through the same spot and then coming out where the
second eye should be (Image 16), through the eye and then back
to the bottom of the head - the needle should come out on exactly
same place as where you inserted it.

Image 16
Tie a double knot. Hide ends inside the head.

Sew head to the body
Using yarn tail and tapestry needle sew head between Rnds 3 and
4 of the body. (Image 17)

Image 17

Attach arms
Using yarn tails and tapestry needle, sew arms to the sides of
the body, just below the vail. Before sewing make sure the arms
are correctly positioned so the hands are slightly bent toward the
body. (Image 18)

Image 18

8

Attach legs
Put the doll on the flat surface and pin the legs in position so
it can sit on its own. (Image 19) With white yarn and tapestry
needle sew free loops of Rnd 13 of the legs to the body between
Rnds 15 and 19. (Image 20)

Image 19

Tip: Be careful not to place the legs too low on the body as it
will not be able to sit on its own, it will lean backwards.

Finishing
Sew cap to the head (front side between Rnds 11 and 12 of the
head and back side between Rnds 23 and 24). (Image 21)

Image 20

With a tapestry needle and black thread embroider mouth and
eyebrows. (Image 22)
Add some blush to the cheeks and your mushroom is finished!
