Postdoc position: Discovery and functional analysis of erythroid leukemia
oncogenic hits
Place: Institute of Molecular Genetics of Montpellier (IGMM), France

A 2-years postdoctoral position is available at IGMM Montpellier to analyze the genetic
causes of human erythroleukemia and to investigate the role of novel oncogenic fusions in vivo. The
work will be carried-out in Dr. Eric Soler’s lab and will be funded by the EpiGenMed Labex. It is part of
a collaboration with the labs of T. Mercher (Gustave Roussy, Villejuif) and F. Pflumio (Inserm U967/CEA,
Fontenay-aux-Roses).

Scientific context and work program:
Acute Erythroid Leukemia (AEL, also known as AML-M6 subtype ) is a group of rare and aggressive
leukemias associated with poor survival. The molecular etiology of AEL is largely unknown and there
are no specific therapies. We initiated a large effort to molecularly characterize AEL patient samples
with the aim to identify recurrent genomic alterations and to model AEL development in vivo by
testing the role of recently identified novel chromosomal translocations.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to (i) pursue the analysis of primary human
AEL samples using xenografting experiments in immunodeficient mice, (ii) characterize the epigenomic
landscape of AEL, and (iii) functionally characterize novel oncogenic fusions in vivo.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, FACS analysis and
experience in leukemia xenograft models and bone marrow transplants. The candidate will benefit
from already available NGS and transcriptome data and will work closely with a dedicated technician.

The work program will be carried-out in the group of Eric Soler who recently joined the Institute of
Molecular Genetics of Montpellier (IGMM). The group will be composed of 3 full-time researchers, 1
informatician, 2 postdocs and 2 technicians/engineers. Full access to all IGMM state-of-the art core
facilities and platforms will be provided, and the work will be carried out in a highly dynamic and
international environment.

The position will be opened in the beginning of 2017.

To apply, please send a CV, motivation letter and names/contact information of two to three
