LA TAVERNE GUTENBERG
The « Taverne Gutenberg », is an association created in Octobre 2015 which aims to create
encounters between artists and the public. It is located in a three-storey high building, in
Lyon’s city centre. The project was founded by Henri Lamy (painter from Lyon), Maïa
d’Aboville (interactive designer), joined by Mathilde Corbet (artist in charge of the studios),
Guillaume Sénéchal (project coordinator - development), Romain Weber (artistic
programmer) and a team of dedicated volunteers.
Located in a three-floors building in the center of Lyon - Guillotière neighbourhood - and
supposed to be a short-lived artistic residency, until the end of december 2015. Following
the great success of the first exhibitions, the team decided to continue the adventure, and
develop the project.
In a year, Taverne Gutenberg organized several event (free price) that welcomed more than
20 000 visitors, and now numbered more than 12 000 members.
Exhibitions (6 collectives) gathering hundreds of artists, welcoming around 500 people
during the vernissage.
Highlights during global reputation (Lyon Contempory Art Biennale, Mirage Festival, Nuits
Sonores, Original Festival, Hallucinations Collectives, Lyon BD Festival, Paroles
And several cultural events (projections, conferences, litterature readings, theatre …)

THEME - PATCHWORKS
Taverne Gutenberg is giving carte blanche to several artists to invest in rooms from 7 to 12m2 on
four floors, for doing performances, installation InSitu works of art… around the theme :
Patchwork technique is initially linked to fabrics and is related to the art of putting together pieces
of different shapes, colours or sizes. This exhibition aims to link this process to visual arts, bringing
together heteroclits elements that originally doesn’t have a common destination at first place. The
singularity of each creation would be a patchwork itself.
The artists are invited to present their vision on the diversity of shapes and materials. The
team will insist in the selection on the creation that will permit a real immersion along the
Initiated by Antonin Boyhrev, resident artist at the Taverne Gutenberg, the exhibition will
take place from 31st of March to the 10th of April 2017.
Artistic mediums : Visual arts, graphic arts,, numeric arts, danse, circus, music, writing,
design, projection/immersive, mapping… and any kind of creation !
Vernissage will take place Friday the 31st, of March, starting at 5.30pm until 9pm.
All creations have to be ready by Thursday the 30th of march, morning time. All of the
artists have to be there during the vernissage, the 31st.
We plan to welcome around a thousand of people during the exhibition.
The exhibition will be opened to public from Friday the 31st of March to Sunday the 9 of
April, during our opening time (Wednesday to Saturday, 2pm to 9pm, Sunday from 2pm to

The artists would be able to sell their artworks during the exhibition, with a 30% commission taken
by the Taverne Gutenberg.
