conversa/on  with  
Norman  Krüger  to  get  a  
general  introduc/on  on  
Coronect.  

xBird,  founded  in  2015  in  Berlin,  is  a  
medical  AI  company  dedicated  to  save  
lives  by  disrup/ng  the  way  we  think  
about  preven/on  and  early  detec/on  
of  diseases.  xBird  is  developing  
sophis/cated  machine  learning  
algorithms  that  analyze  sensor  data  
from  smartphones  and  wearables  to  
predict  and  prevent  cri/cal  health  
risks.  The  company  consists  of  medical  
doctors,  data  scien/sts  and  serial  
entrepreneurs  from  Berlin  and  Silicon  
Valley.  xBird  is  currently  part  of  the  
Grants4Apps  accelerator.

Tinnitracks  at  our  
Entrepreneurship  
Fes/val  exhibi/on  about  
digital  health.

Coronect,  founded  in  2016  in  Berlin,  
develops  an  innova/ve  medical  grade  
product  which,  with  its  patent  pending  
technology,  measures  a  
comprehensive  5  channel  ECG/EKG.  
With  its  easy  to  use  and  comfortable  
chest  strap,  data  is  collected  and  sent  
to  a  secure  cloud.  On  request  their  
expert  team  of  cardiologists  creates  a  
personal  detailed  report  about  the  
general  condi/on  the  heart  is  in,  as  
well  as  tailored  hints  on  how  to  
improve  upon  it  to  further  beber  the  
quality  of  life.

We  have  had  contact  
with  Sebas/an  Sujka  and  
we  have  seen  the  xBird  
office  during  our  mee/ng  
with  Grants4Apps.  

Sonormed,  founded  in  2012,  is  an  
Hamburg  based  startup  which  tries  to  
make  people  hear  beber  by  addressing  
their  hearing  problems  with  everyday  
consumer  electronics.  In  their  first  
successful  abempt,  they  developed  the  
App  Tinnitracks  which  helps  alleviate  
the  pains  and  distrac/ons  of  /nnitus.  
Sonormed  was  able  to  strike  first  deals  
with  German  public  insurances  to  
allow  users  to  be  reimbursed  for  their  
purchase  of  the  paid  app  version  and  
further  cooperates  with  the  
Fraunhofer  Insitute  and  Sennheiser  in  
the  development  and  improvement  of  
its  technology.  

Emperra,  founded  in  2008,  already  
established  their  products  along  the  
en/re  line  of  repor/ng  of  blood  sugar  
and  insulin  values  from  the  pa/ent  to  
the  doctor.  The  products  are  branded  
as  Esysta  and  are  based  around  the  
company’s  in  house  insulin  pen  with  
advanced  communica/on  capabili/es,  
either  Bluetooth  or  GSM,  and  the  
company’s  online  app  and  online  
portal  for  quick  and  easy  analysis.  This  
allows  the  user  to  quickly  recognize  
incorrect  dosing  of  his  insulin  
injec/ons,  coupled  with  quick  
communica/on  between  physician  and  
pa/ent.

with  Marius  
Oesterschlink,  who  
introduced  us  to  several  
startup  founders  in  the  
Berlin  ecosystem.    

Grants4Apps,  founded  in  2014,  is  the  
in  house  accelerator  of  Bayer  
Healthcare  and  part  of  the  division’s  
open  innova/on  ini/a/ve,  enabling  
Bayer  to  create  an  environment  in  
which  to  advance  digital  innova/on  in  
health  care.  The  Grant4Apps  program  
offers  five  addi/onal  loca/ons  besides  
Berlin,  e.g.  Shanghai  and  Moscow.  
Within  the  program  start  ups  receive  
intensive  mentoring  from  internal  and  
external  experts,  opera/onal  support  
in  form  of  €50.000  and  office  space  for  
100  days  as  well  as  an  entry  to  the  
extensive  network  Bayer  Healthcare.

We  interacted  with  dr.  
Chris/an  Krey  to  provide  
us  with  material  for  the  
Entrepreneurship  
Fes/val.  

XLHEALTH  is  a  Berlin-­‐based  Venture  
Capital  investor  in  startups  of  the  IT  
healthcare  industry.  Following  the  
mission  statement  "Digital  Health  –  
Made  in  Germany"  XLHEALTH  invests  
in  selected  companies  that  make  a  
sustainable  impact  to  preserve  and  
improve  human  health.  XLHEALTH  
offers  startups  a  network  of  mentors  
and  access  to  400,000  providers,  
organiza/ons,  industry  partners  and  
patented  health  technologies.

and  Jannis  Busch  
presented  the  cohort  of  
2016,  and  the  
possibili/es  and  scope  of  
current  and  past  
ventures  they  supported.
