Po tMy artistic practice stands out in the
fields of editorial design (conception
of visual and editorial identities),
silver and digital photography, Visual
Arts (engraving, sculpture, experimental concepts), illustration, and
especially in the domain of typography. I try to give a strong plastic
and experimental value to my work.
I find my inspiration in my life experiences, I undertake to take photographs or draw sketches every
day of the elements that constitute
myself. They participate in the development of my singular artistic look
on the contemporary environment, I
think the aim of an artist or designer
should be to raise collective awareness and bring positive disruption
able to positively influence change in
our behaviors and representations.

Personal calligraphy notebooks
Upstream research about combining hybrid fonts, combining
characters from different alphabets (Cyrillic, Higarana, Arabic,
-Latin, Greek and mathematical symbols). Brushes, pencils.

BOOK FAIR WORKSHOP
Calligraphy in situ
« Frankfurt auf Französisch » is an event that took place
during the five days of the Fair of Frankfurt (2017.10) We made
a typographic performance there, which consisted of collecting
the words of the authors present on the Pavillon stages and
to come and put them in real time on the huge glass facade
overlooking the fairground. This installation was developed
by the students of the Master of Design of typographic and digital
creations of the School Estienne; invited by Ruedi Baur and
coordinated by Michel Derre, and Julien Priez.

NATIONAL CENTER OF GRAPHIC DESIGN
Typographic research made at a signature workshop,
the national center of graphic design in Chaumont.
This very experimental font has been completely furnished
by hand in two hours, based on self-adhesive frames.
It questions the limits of readability, and plays on principles
of superposition, transparency (additive synthesis)
and modularity. In a second step,
it was printed in riso.
This workshop was an important
source of inspiration, that led me to
create this display typeface called
« VICTORY ».

Summer alphabet book
Being passionate about digital & film photography,
literature, travelling, editorial design and typographic
creation, I wanted to develop a personal concept in order
to unite all these practices into a book that is not
only personal but also accessible, and contemporary.
That’s why I chose to which own a strong readability thanks to the order
initiated by its reading. I choose to mix photographs,
texts and typographical experiments of all kinds.
The principle is therefore relatively intuitive :
it’s about an image, associated with a word
and its definition as well as a letter of the alphabet.
Each shot was taken during the summer of 2016,
mostly in Portugal (an organic and maritime spirit emerges
from the whole). The fleece back is glued
with white glue (D4) in order to make it damp resistant,
with a cover where the title «alphabet» is embossed.

The French publishing house « La Martinière » decided
to publish a monograph as a tribute to Jacques Brel,
the most volcanic personality of French variety. The book
relates his life, his work (music and cinema), his influence
within the «French variety» and also has a very large
part devoted to his most beautiful songs.
The particularity of this book can be found in the section
dedicated to songs, where typographies come alive
to illustrate the true meaning of words and expressions.
The issues emerging from this project go as follows:
- What graphic language should be invented to talk
about a well-known, but « dusty » artist, through
the sight of the young generation ?
- How to design an editorial project
that would be vector of intergenerational transmission
within the particular cultural context ?

The display font was conceived
according to the artist’s own calligraphic gesture,
whose manuscripts were previously scanned
and then reinvested in a digital form,
this typography is intense, powerful,
physical and energetic.
Presented in an annex specimen, it has 3 variants
to multiply the expressions and to reinforce the momentum
of proximity and the human aspect linked to the handwritten
form of the font. The aim is to attract attention by breaking
the rhythm of reading. For the same entry, a random glyph
is displayed, and the glyphs dance according to this arbitrary
The Opentype function is used
to mix the variants.
The original Xérographies of Bruno Munari greatly
inspired me throughout the evolution of my studies
in graphic design, because I find this principle
extremely rich. Indeed, Munari «discovered that he could
use the machine as a pencil for a new kind of drawings».
I therefore regularly exploit this technique,
and in particular in the project presented here.
When a photocopier is used to distort the typography,
it comes alive, with the movement that is given to it by the
displacement of the hand and the sheet when copying.
I find it interesting to capture conversations
in the urban environment, the streets or public
transportation, in order to later graphically transcribe
them into small editorial collection. The texts heard
were formatted into five booklets. The set was made
by hand, the black texts on white are inscribed with a pen
and the white letters were cut and glued on black sheets.
The notebooks are in Singer Sewn Book Binding, in A5 format.
IN THE URBAN
THEM INTO SMALL
OF ALL KINDS]
Here, I wanted to develop a new
editorial concept: the pop-up calendar.
The principle is simple: every day,
we discover a small module, which when
opened reveals a different origami :
it can sometimes be totally abstract
(geometric shapes), but also
in connection with winter.
The shape of the calendar is based
on the graphics of the underside
of a pine cone. Indeed, this fruit is
«very geometric» and it offers
original shapes, which can be compared
to the corolla of a flower. That is why
I broke down this pattern in twenty
four modules, and then established
a chromatic range which is both cold
and wintery, though remaining
relatively soft (pastel shades).
Thanks to press studs, stitched with paper,
the modules can be easily opened.
Finally, once all modules have been
opened and detached from the structure,
we then discover the initial form
of the underside of the pine cone,
which can bekept as a decorative object.
« Astro »
In recent years, the conquest of space has
returned to the heart of the news, with films like Gravity
or Interstellar, or the presence of Thomas Pesquet
in the ISS. This is why the Flammarions Editions
wished to publish an editorial collection intended
to make space even more popular. The idea was to create
the visual identity as well as the editorial charter
of a series of «small guide books» called «Astro».
I immediately wanted to design an editorial identity
which was both poetic and informative. This is why I have
exploited several lines of research such as mystery,
nebulosity, distortion or even mineral matter. Finalization
books were designed thanks to the plastic experiments
carried out previously. The format of the books
are relatively small for a better practical aspect, it mesures
11x17 cm. Selective varnish were affixed to the present
typography on the covers, to initiate the mystery
and make the object attractive.
