SECTION 4: First aid measures
4.1. Description of first aid measures

Ethanol

Fragrance
Inhalation
Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position
comfortable for breathing. If not breathing, if breathing is
irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial
respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. It may be
dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-tomouth resuscitation. Get medical attention if adverse
health effects persist or are severe. If unconscious, place
in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.
Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a
collar, tie, belt or waistband.

Keep at rest.
Move to fresh air.
Consult a physician if necessary

Skin contact
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
After contact with skin, wash immediately with
plenty of soap and water.
Consult a physician if necessary.

Wash with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated
clothing and shoes. Wash contaminated clothing thoroughly
with water before removing it, or wear gloves. Continue to
rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention. In the
event of any complaints or symptoms, avoid further
exposure. Wash clothing before reuse. Clean shoes
thoroughly before reuse.

Eye contact
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also
under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Consult a physician if necessary

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally
lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove
any contact lenses. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes.
Get medical attention.

Rinse mouth.
Drink plenty of water.
Obtain medical attention.

Wash out mouth with water. Remove dentures if any.
Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position
comfortable for breathing. If material has been swallowed
and the exposed person is conscious, give small quantities
of water to drink. Stop if the exposed person feels sick as
vomiting may be dangerous. Do not induce vomiting unless
directed to do so by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs,
the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the
lungs. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist
or are severe. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. If unconscious, place in recovery
position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an
open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt
or waistband.

Ingestion

Additional advice for first-aiders
First aider needs to protect himself.
See also section 8
Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Show this safety
data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
Treat symptomatically.
When symptoms persist or in all cases of
doubt seek medical advice.

No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or
without suitable training. It may be dangerous to the person
providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Wash
contaminated clothing thoroughly with water before
removing it, or wear gloves.

Material Safety Data Sheet
Blood ethanol concentrations resulting from ethanol exposure by any route other than deliberate and repeated oral
consumption are unlikely to reach levels associated with reproductive or developmental effects.
In humans, excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages during pregnancy is associated with the induction of Foetal
Alcohol Syndrome in the offspring causing reduced birth weight and physical and mental defect to occur. There is no
evidence that such effects might be caused by exposures other than direct ingestion of alcoholic drinks.
From the available data, it can concluded that it is impossible to reach the doses of ethanol required to produce any
sort of adverse reproductive response other than by repeated oral consumption of large amounts of ethanol (doses
normally only associated with problem drinking)

SECTION 12: Ecological information
12.1. Toxicity
Adopt good working practices, so that the product is not released into the environment.
Harmful to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
