Case Study - ​Pitch Hero
How we helped Pitch Hero generate a consistent 10-30
sales meetings (meetings, not leads) every week using
cold outreach and lead generation

Introduction
Pitch Hero is - a video marketing agency that create explainer, branding and animated videos to
boost client acquisition
They work in any industry but primarily target Marketing agencies, tech companies, financial
services and consultants
The company is run by Nick Beckett and Ian Jackson, they started Pitch Hero in July 2017
They tried cold email for one month before cold email crashed and then started again when
working with me in November 2017

The Problem
Before working with Pitch Hero - they’d just started their video marketing agency. They had
used Upwork to get small jobs initially, but had no consistent way to generate leads
Pitch Hero had already tried cold email campaigns before we worked together, and they
worked. But their domain was quickly blacklisted

The Goal
Setup Linkedin lead generation across multiple accounts
Prepare the cold email so Pitch Hero could generate leads for a long time, without getting
blacklisted, keeping the open rate and conversion rate as high as possible
Generate consistent leads so that the company could expand with new sales people

What happened after working together
We setup a Linkedin copywriting and targeting system so that Pitch Hero can manage multiple
accounts at once and so a new sales person can quickly be given fresh leads to close
We spent most of our time focusing on cold email technology, it takes a lot of work to be able to
send out 5,300 emails in one week (generating 30 sales meetings) without getting blacklisted
If Pitch Hero’s cold email domain gets blocked, they now have multiple other domains they can
send cold emails from, minimising the risk of generating no leads as they warm up a new
domain

Here’s What We Did To Get Results
Domain Protection and Deliverability
We made sure the domains don’t get blacklisted - Pitch Hero could easily generate leads but
making sure their main company domain stayed safe in the process was key
Here are a few steps we made to ensure domain safety:
- We made sure we weren’t using Pitch Hero’s primary domain
- We unlinked the domains through the hosting provider and Gsuite
- We showed Pitch Hero our domain warm up process
- Anytime Pitch Hero got an error, or a spam trap, we showed them the best practice and
best next steps to ensure they kept generating leads. Sometimes this meant recovering
the domain from blacklisting/low deliverability, and other times moving to a new domain

Linkedin targeting and Copywriting to drive meetings
We wrote the copy for Pitch Hero’s Linkedin profile and messaging, and showed them how to
message the maximum number of prospects who’re likely to buy
Split testing was a key part of the initial process, for Video Marketing, we tested multiple factors
including job title (CEO vs Marketing Director) location, company size and industry

Cold Email Deliverability - Open Rate and Conversions
Email was primarily technical, making sure the best Copywriting practices were followed to
avoid the spam box and avoid blacklisting
A lot of the time working with Pitch Hero was jumping on a call when their cold email open rate
had dropped, then diagnosing and fixing the problem

Biggest worries Pitch Hero had before working with The CopySpace
The number one worry Pitch Hero had was that The CopySpace couldn’t promise or guarantee
they would get leads using our methods
Note ​The CopySpace still doesn’t guarantee your company’s success, but we can guarantee
we have the most up to date B2B lead generation methods to give you the best possible chance
of success
Pitch Hero were also worried cold email wouldn’t work for them long term,
We made sure they had multiple domains to send emails from and established limits to ensure
that cold email could work for Pitch Hero long term, and that they didn’t have to spend lots on
advertising
