Project
In order to inscribe the High City of
Antananarivo on the list of World Heritage
of UNESCO, some studies need to be
realized to sustain the project.
Thus, I prepared the field work and then
piloted surveys realized by a team of 11
juniors professionals and malagasy Ministry
of Culture members about old traditionnal
houses, heritage places such as springs,
retaining walls, portals of the city, green
places, and so on.
Reports and maps of identified sites
have been realized and restituted to
the community, the Ministry and the World
Heritage Center which funded the studies
with the Ile-de-France region.

Project
Settling living spaces dedicated to relaxation and entertainment (outdoor scene,
handicraft boxes, restaurant, petanque) with a cyclable pist and new and organized
parking spaces around Anosy Lake.
An architecture respecting traditionnal construction, keeping the zone as a green and
public area.

Courtyards to vegetate

Agriculture is a key element of social livelihood in India,
second in the world in farm outputs, 2/3 of India’s population
depending on agriculture, but this situation tends to erode
because of the current model of growth and development.
Mainly etale to the East and South sides of the city, the
project tends to reconnect the different neighborhoods of
Udaipur city around an ambulatory and green center.
The different ways of connection and enhancing :
• simplification of circulations and displacements,
• restructuration of vegetal parcels along pedestrain paths,
offering a kind of breathing in the dense urban space, far from
commercial and tourists areas,
• highlighting of intimate and vegetated houses and Havelis
courtyards,
• sanitation and implementation of public gardens in
abandoned courts,
• implementation of fruit trees in the shopping market streets
(Badu bazaar road, Bapu bazaar road) to organize the
circulation space, to bring shadow areas beneficial to
the working conditions of merchants and to introduce an
agreable visual and olfactory environment.

Work on the field
Mesuring the angular nature of the street by coordinate string method.
Documenting old-traditional architecture.
Realizing a survey to identify and group different kinds of buildings along the street.

Approach and proposals
Finding quieter and less crowded pedestrian spaces as compare to the
existing pedestrain and trafic circulation fabric in the Mewar city.
Directing the street in one way traffic to create a new heritage walk
between the Clock Tower, the Jagdish Temple and the Sattapol lakefront.
Using ruins as public green spaces which can host handicraft markets and the
school as a cultural community center for people residing in and around Mewar city.

Settling living spaces dedicated to relaxation and
entertainment under the Viaduct of Tables Claudiennes,
surronding a historic site : the Amphitheater of Three Gaules.
A site of implantation marked by a series of additions and
removal of masses through its history.
A new architecture based on this principle, directed to a
work of confrontation between full, massive and monolithic
blocks and empty spaces whose pysical limits tend to fade.

Here, time is a full dimension of the architectural project.
The apartment being intended to evolve according to the
uses and to its inhabitants, it’s not limited to a particular and
predefined time.
In the same way, its tangible limits, predefined by the spatial
frame, have been blurred, modified, or erased, to aim towards
the perception of an architecture in perpetual movement, not
congealed in a simple closed volume, and thus in-finite.
