INNOVATIVE GERMAN LANGUANGE COURSE
PROGRAM LAUNCHING IN LOS ANGELES
The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles, the official cultural institute of the Federal Republic
of Germany, in cooperation with the Alliance Française de Los Angeles, the Max
Kade Institut, and Satellite Santa Monica, announces the launch of innovative
German language learning courses tailored to the needs of Angelenos.
A PROGRAM CRAFTED FOR LOS ANGELES
Lien Heidenreich-Seleme, Director of the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is excited
to announce the launch of the Institute’s new program of German language
courses in Los Angeles: "Our innovative and engaging German courses have
been developed with the needs of the 21st century student in mind."
Given Los Angeles’ size and unique infrastructure, the Goethe-Institut will
offer German courses at multiple locations, providing German language
learners more opportunities to find a course that best suits their needs. In
addition to face to face courses, the Goethe-Institut also offers online courses
for learners who prefer even more flexibility. “If our locations don’t work for
our students, they can learn from their sofa, beach blanket or patio. All that
they need is an internet connection”, says Steffi Krause, Coordinator of the
new language program.
FINDING LOCAL PARTNERS
Working closely together with local partners, played an important role in
being able to offer this flexibility to students. One of the institutions, which
opened their doors to holding German classes, is the Alliance Française de Los
Angeles. In addition to sharing their space, the two institutions share a long
tradition of promoting European culture and languages throughout the world.
“It is great to start this cooperation with the Goethe-Institut at a time where
transnational partnerships prove to be more important than ever”, says
Damien Bigot, Education Programs Manager, Alliance Française de Los Angeles.
In addition to offering German classes in Westwood, the Goethe-Institut is
intensifying their long lasting partnership with the Max Kade Institute for
Austrian-German-Swiss Studies (USC). "We have been partners with the
Goethe-Institut and the Friends of Goethe for a long time and we are delighted
to be able to strengthen this bond going forward", says Paul Lerner, Director
of the Max Kade Institute.
The third course location will be in Santa Monica at a branch of the modern
co-working space The Satellite.
